The issue of intercession is one of the important Quranic issues that has been the subject of serious and challenging, yet different and sometimes contradictory, discussions since ancient times. Zamakhshari and Tabarsi, as two brilliant and stylish figures in the world of interpretation, have each provided a different reading of intercession in accordance with the tendencies of their schools. The present article, with a descriptive-analytical approach, criticizes and examines Zamakhshari’s view and his interpretive approach from Tabarsi’s point of view. In the first part, the manner of Zamakhshari’s interpretation and receipt of a specific meaning from the interpretation of verses related to the concept of intercession and its application with Tabarsi’s type of attitude and entry into this range of verses has been done. In the second part, the foundations that Zamakhshari relies on in deriving the concept of intercession, relying on the ذخائر (treasures) of the Mu’tazila current, have been criticized based on Tabarsi’s interpretive view. In conclusion, by examining the interpretive method of each of these two commentators in the field of interpretive rules and sources, it has become clear that Tabarsi, in achieving the purposes of the word of God, has taken a safer path than Zamakhshari, considering the use of more interpretive sources such as the Quran, narration, and reason, and benefiting from more complete interpretive rules, such as paying attention to the application of words at the time of revelation and contexts, and considering علم (knowledge) and علمی (scientific) as the basis.
