Reason and intellect is one of the important sources of doctrinal knowledge and the method of its application is significant. There are various currents about this in the history of theology. This article investigates and evaluates the approach of long-standing rational-philosophical theology in the Shiite intellectual tradition and the new Tafkiki theology. The method of research in this discussion is documentary and analytic and the result of that is the Tafkiki approach, apart from some exemplified differences, if escapes from the reason and logical rules, won’t has valid support and intimately will reach the agnosticism and epistemic impasse.
